Stories Behind the Songs

EMO KIDS NEED PROZAC

It was 1:00am...
...and Dan was bored as hell and decided to make a part of the site devoted to the meanings behind the NC songs and what really inspired them.

ED!: Our trademark song.  The info for this song is up for debate. Feel free to toss in ur two cents about it.

Chic's Hate Me:  A Punk/Ska Song written about Haig's horrible luck with women.

Tinkerbell:  Similar to "The Science of Selling Yourself Short" by Less Than Jake.  I have no clue about the lyrics, and with a title like that... I don't want to know.

Free: Written about Dan's current girlfriend, Andrea`!

A Nation's Genocide: This song pays tribute to those who suffered at the hands of the Young Turks in the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

Why Did I Give You Up: Haig wrote this about the good qualities of his many girlfriends and question about why he ever dumped them.

Forget You: A backlash against one of Haig'ss girlfriends who dumped him after a week for no reason whatsoever.

Its Just Me: Written about a friend who came out of the closet and was ostracized by his friends.

Amnesia: Haig tried to write a song that would sound similar to "Wish You Were Here" by Incubus. There really isn't a story behind this one, just random song lyrics that were written down.

You Will See: This song is about being bullied as a kid and then overcoming it as you grow older. Its about maintaining your self-esteem when those around you are trying to break it down.

Wash Away: This song was written for Dan and Haig's Music Theory Class. It really has a complex meaning and is essentially about living through a dark time and then finally coming out of it.

Mockery of Society: Replace society with George W. Bush

Nightmare Reality: About a friend who dropped out of school and is wasting his talents and time on weed and basically is tossing his life away.

The End: Taylor wrote this about the end of the world occurring through nuclear annihilation (happy little song, huh?)

Be Me: about a friend who nearly committed suicide.

Fain: another complex meaning. Its about arguing all the time then finally getting tired of fighting and giving up.

Wake Up: We realized that all our songs are negative with the exceptions of the ones when we make fun of people, so we came together and wrote an inspirational one as a band. Wahoo.

Surplus of Short People (the Dancing Healy Jig): as I make this site, I realize that our songs are really depressing, so lets end this page on a high note. Surplus basically is the members of N.C. making fun of ourselves.
